Resolving Apparent Bible Contradictions
About
Resolving Apparent Bible Contradictions is the brainchild of Greg Wilson, born out of his concern with the fact that as one studies the Bible carefully and compares various scriptures, certain apparent contradictions arise. As the scriptures have come down to us authentically, this website seeks to analyze specific cases identified of apparent contradictions, and attempts to consider the context of the verse or passage to delineate that there can be different contexts where in one scenario, one course of action or belief is correct, and in another context, another is correct, thus giving room for there to be different doctrines depending on the situation.
Here are some of the general categories we take a look at when trying to resolve apparent biblical contradictions:
Many apparent contradictions in the Bible stem from the fact that some New Testament verses seem to say parts or all of the Law is abolished and done away with, whereas many other New Testament verses, especially the teachings of Jesus and many verses from book of Romans, etc, seem to uphold the keeping of the commandments. We will try to break this down, case by case, and figure out what is going on.
Some of the violence of the Old Testament seems to not harmonize with the values of the New Testament. We will examine this.
The way God interacts with people in the Old Testament can seem harsher than in the New Testament – for example, stoning adulterers in OT, yet Jesus forgiving the adulterous woman in the New Testament. We will examine this.
